13th Annual St. Paul Summer Golf League - 2017

At Deer Creek C.C., Deerfield Beach, Florida


League Format – Two Person Scramble


Maximum of 32 two person teams


3 - Pre-League events all using gross scoring (no handicap) to establish a TEAM handicap.


Maximum 9 hole TEAM handicap: 9 During competition, 60% of team handicap will be used.


League will be divided into two divisions based upon the established TEAM handicap.

Lowest 16 team handicaps will be the Nicklaus Division.

Remaining 16 teams will be the Palmer Division

League Scoring System:   All teams turn in one gross score based on a two-person scramble.

Winner of each pairing will be determined based on the team’s net score (gross score plus 60% hdcp)


Division standings will be kept based on accumulated team total points.  Net score used for 1 point per hole match play (half point for a tied hole), plus 2 points for win, 1 point for tie, 0 points for loss for total 9 hole net score.  11 total points per match.


League Rules

USGA rules apply except where modified by local rules.  (see score card for local rules)

Exceptions to be determined by the League Director under consultation with the Head Pro.


MEN: White Tees

SENIOR MEN: (65+) Green Tees

WOMEN: Red Tees

SENIOR WOMEN: (55+) Silver Tees


Maximum score is triple bogie.  (Pickup ball and record score of triple bogie.  Do not complete the hole.)

Record your team’s actual score, not your handicapped score.  (The League Managers’ Computer Program will automatically adjust your score)

No Mulligans.

Reasonable “give-me’s” from your opponent are allowed to speed up play but not required.

League standing, new pairings, and adjusted handicaps will be provided each week by e-mail.



1. If you know in advance that you will miss a play date, you must contact a player from the substitute list to take your place. (A roster of Sub’s phone # and email will be provided)

2. If you are absent with no sub, one may be randomly selected to take your place.

3. If no substitutes are available, your partner will play alone and his/her individual score will count as your team score.

4. If both players are absent, your team forfeits the match. Family teams on vacation may use 2 subs.

5.  A “Sub Matrix” will be formulated to account for sub playing ability and team handicap.


Rainy Day Procedures

If the course is open we will play.  If the course is closed we will not play.

In the event of a rainout, the schedule will be adjusted so that all teams will have the chance to play against each team in their division.



3 Pre-League Events:  Closest to the pin on all par 3 holes  - $10 each

                                $20 to the Teams that finish 1st, 8th, and 16th.


League Prizes: Closest to the pin on all par 3 holes for each Division  - $10 each


Nicklaus Division Palmer Division
1st - $300 per team + trophies 1st - $300 per team + trophies
2nd - $200 per team 2nd - $200 per team 
3rd - $150 per team 3rd - $150 per team
4th - $100  per team 4th - $100 per team


Registration Cost

$60 League Registration Fee per League Player (payable to: St. Paul Lutheran Church)

$40 League Registration Fee for Substitutes (payable to: St. Paul Lutheran Church)

Registration fee includes prizes and end of year party for you and one guest.


Cost to Play  payable in pro shop each play date

$20 per play at Deer Creek     Includes: greens fees, cart, and tax.

Order of Acceptance into League 

  1. Returning league teams have priority registration until noon, Tuesday, April 5th.
  2. Returning team members with new partners in the order that the applications are received.
  3. New players who are members of St. Paul will be accepted in the order that the applications are received.
  4. Other new players to the league will be accepted in the order that the applications are received.
  5. Any players not placed on a team will be added to the league substitute list.


The Bobby Jones Division

Optional non-handicapped division.

Teams that choose to enter this division will still compete in either the Nicklaus or Palmer Divisions using their team’s handicapped scores.


In addition, each week standings will be posted using your teams gross score average.


At the conclusion of all the play dates, prize money will be issued as follows:


1st place team: 60% of entry fees

2nd place team: 30% of entry fees

3rd place team: 10% of entry fees


Entry Fee: $20 per player  ($40 per team)

(Total league registration would be $80 if you enter the Bobby Jones Division.)
