Welcome to the Audio Visual Learning Corner! This is where you will be able to learn more about the various aspects of audio. Don't forget that no matter your background, training is available at St. Paul and is the best way to get up to speed quickly on vocabulary and techniques.
If you are looking for something specific, feel free to contact Dane.
1. Learn a few things about recording and how audio works. This will get you started in the live sound world also as many of the techniques are the same.
2. Understanding some of the basics of audio; waveforms, digital VS. analog, sample rate. This is one of the first things you need to understand with audio.
3. Here is a signal flow chart to understand exactly how audio flows from the voice/instrument to the speakers you hear it on. This can be a bit confusing at first but is quite easy once you get your hands on an audio console!
This shows how audio comes from the microphone, through the wall, through wires and into your audio console ultimately ending up in your speakers. All consoles have very similar signal flow.
4. This is a great resource, once at the site, click on the tab at the top that most interests you.
