Our Mission Stamteent:
To make Christ known to all people through world wide mission and relief work.
Inspiring non-believers to believe by observing the way our team witnesses to
Christ by our committed servant lifestyle, whereby our fellowship grows amongst
one another, the people we serve and our Savior Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age." [NIV]
Mission Updates:
Boca Helping Hands:
Boca Helping Hands (BHH) is a community-based organization that was formed
in 1998 by a group of local religious congregations. BHH first opened as a
Food Center in November 1998, serving nutritious hot lunches 3 days a week
and giving out bags of groceries to families. An after-school sandwich
program started in March 1999. The Food Program has expanded to five
days a week and includes delivering home cooked meals to homebound disabled
and elderly individuals. The organization opened an Assistance Center four
years later in April 2002 with a focus on providing financial help
for people in crisis situations (e.g., eviction, utility cancellation,
prescription medication).
Now in our 11th year of serving the community, we have seen the largest
increase in demand for services. In response to this increased demand, in
April 2009 we opened an eleven-hundred square-foot Job Mentoring Center
that provides coaching and guidance designed to help individuals reenter the
community as positive and productive members of society. These services
complement our food and assistance programs in our continuing effort to
provide compassionate service designed to instill dignity and break the
cycle of dependence.
Our support now comes from
Congregations in Boca Raton, the City of Boca Raton, the community of
Boca Raton, and surrounding areas and various corporations and schools,
along with over 250 dedicated volunteers.

Missions and Relief Work
Opportunities
At St. Paul Lutheran Church, the giving of one time, treasures and talents is
one of the ways we help fulfill the Great Commission. We offer a wide range of
mission and relief work. We offer the opportunity to serve on a local event for
a few hours, all the way up to two week international trips, and every
imaginable combination between the two!!
The way these trips originate, is by a member of our congregation showing an
interest in a cause. They bring this idea to one of our Pastors to review, and
it is ranked according to other mission and relief projects planned out over the
next year.
Please email a request to any our Pastors. Be sure to include a section on each
of the following: Location, type of work required; potential time line; amount
of time you can commit to helping pull the trip together; number of members
required for trip
History
St. Paul has only been leading mission trips since the year 2000. Believe it or
not, Pastor Ben was our Vicar and led our congregation on its first mission! In
that short time we've sponsored over 15 mission trips - international as well as
domestically. There have been relief trips to the Gulf States (Katrina and
others), trips to Puerto Rico to help build a church, school and participate in
outreach programs, trips to Guatemala to serve in outreach and bible study
programs, and one planned for Brazil this summer. Additionally, we have served
locally, most recently at Our Lady of Savior Lutheran Church which was
devastated by our recent hurricanes. We sent teams up there for two back to back
Saturdays to help with re-painting. We've also collected clothing from
Lutheran's around the country and have crated these for delivery to Haiti.
And with all that said - we're just starting. There are lots of opportunities to
serve locally and internationally. Many of these opportunities arise when a
congregation member sees a need for us to outreach to a group of individuals.
It's then brought to a one of our Pastor's attention and its prioritized with
our planned missions and events.
