Acolyte Ministry

Acolyte Ministry

Acolytes

Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.  Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight.  Psalm 43:3-4a

The word “acolyte” comes from the Greek word, “to follow, to accompany or to escort.”  Therefore you as acolytes are attendants, helpers; you are participants and assistants to the Pastors as well as to the worship service.  You are not just lighting candles but acting as servants of the Lord and serving the congregants in their worship, learning, and service to their Lord.

Duties of an Acolyte:

-         Please show up 15-20 minutes before service begins

o       Get your robe on.

o       Check to see if you have a bulletin and hymnal at your seat.

o       Speak with the Pastors to see if there is anything special acolytes will do for that service.

-         Light Candles (Baptism candles if needed)

-         Administer the offering plates to ushers

-         Extinguish Candles

-         Worship with the congregation

-         Should wear dress shoes (and no jeans).

Acolytes are needed right now.

If you are interested in volunteering to be an acolyte, please contact Cindy Dumke via e-mail or by phone at (561) 367-0399.
