CAST ON and join us in this new ministry, "knitting/crocheting of prayer shawls". Our prayer shawls are woven with love and prayer and will then be given to those who are sick, lonely, bereaved, or even for a joyous event. We create the prayer shawls in assorted colors and textures using a Knit 3, Purl 3 (K3P3) motif, representing the Holy Trinity. As we knit or crochet, we pray for the ones who will receive the shawls, whether they are known to us or not.
Even if you have never knitted or crocheted before and would like to learn, the prayer shawl is an easy project. Kits are available for beginners which includes yarn, knitting needles and some accessories along with a pattern to make a prayer shawl at a minimal cost. Once you have learned to make a shawl, you can then work on your shawl at your leisure in your home.
Part of the journey of prayer is to recognize that we may never know how our love and care will touch or change another person's life through the prayer shawls. If you have been looking for a way to become involved in some aspect of ministry here at your church and if this appeals to your gifts, contact, Janie Lester, Chairperson, St Paul Prayer Shawl Ministry 954-421-5170 or email:
